THIS YEARS TEE AND HOODIE DESIGN IS DEDICATED TO OUR STOLEN SISTERS.

HERE IS MY STORY:

When I was 8 years old, my friend from school disappeared. For days we were in shock and worried about what happened to her. Then again at 8, I didn’t quite understand what and why this had happened.

The story was that she was on her way to school (on foot) when she went missing. They found her lunch box on the side of the road. Her mother was worried sick and upset. It was all over the news.

Days later they found her, in a land fill. I couldn’t comprehend what had just taken place. She was the same age as me.

Her step father had done this to her. I can’t imagine what she was going through with that monster that led to her death.

It’s been over 30 years since this happened and it still weighs heavy on my mind from time to time. I adored her. She was my friend. Her name was Ivy.

I’ve created this piece for her and all other missing and murdered indigenous women and girls.

We need to bring into the spotlight that this an issue that really is plaguing our communities, our towns, our cities, our nation. And also this world.

This years tee design is dedicated to these women and girls and their families who grieve, who never stop looking, who hope their sister comes home.
